Question: Hi,
We have just had a 22 week scan which showed left ventricle 10.4mm and right 9.2mm. Third ventricle, corpus callosum etc. are all normal and intact. We have been offered amnio test but understand this this runs the risk of miscarriage? We are wondering what course of action to take.

Brief Answer:
You should do amniocentesis

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear!
Chances for miscarriage from amniocentesis in this age of pregnancy are very very low 0,3 to 1%.
But i think that you should take this risk to do AMNIOCENTESIS (amnio test)because your baby have a mild unilateral ventriculomegaly.

A ventricular atrial measurement exceeding 10 mm should suggest ventriculomegaly.

Ventriculomegaly is associated with chromosomal abnormalities like Trisomy 21.
Hence your doctor have suggested you amnio test.

Fetuses with an isolated, mild, stable unilateral ventriculomegaly seem to have a favourable neurological outcome.

All the best and dont worry so much
