Question: Hi I am just wondering what are some signs of growth hormone deficiency? I just turned 19 and if I have this just wondering if it's to late to catch it so it can still be treated. I am 5'5 my mom is my height and my father is 4 or 5 inches taller than I am and a lot broader. Also I wanted to go see a local endocrinologist but their are none in my area, is their another kind of doctor I can check this out with?

Brief Answer:
sorry! you are little late for height correction.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Sir, hi! signs of GHD or growth hormone deficiency in children is definitely short height. for your age that correction is not possible now. you being a male child with mother 5.5' and father 5.10', definitely had a better potential. but at the age of 19, now all bones are fused. it is definitely not known whether your short height is genetic or GHD. adult features of GHD are - increased fat, less lean muscle mass, fatigue , tired, low quality of life. so if you have any you can assess your growth hormone but not for height anymore. sorry again. regards!

Brief Answer:
height gain is probably not possible

Detailed Answer:
dear sir,

After calculating your mid parental height, and plotting curve growth curve on CDC charts i had told you that height gain is probably not possible. I also told you some symptoms other than short height, of GHD. do you have any? actually in your case i am not suspecting GHD so at 19 years, i expect the bones to have fused already. yours is the case of genetic short stature. still if you want you can get your X-ray left hand AP view and send it to me on this platform . I will tell you your bone age and then we can take this call. regards!
