I am fatigue and like a medium to hard flutter in my heart and my face feels flushed. What signs should I look for that the diastolic dysfuncitons is getting worse. What are warning signs that I need to seek admitted medial attention?
Brief Answer:
worsening shortness of breath
Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic
Worsening heart failure would present with: (1) worsening shortness of breath- it would take less and less activity to cause shortness of breath
(2)shortness of breath on lying down, would have to prop up higher and higher
(3)increasing fatigue
(4)increasing palpitations and chest pain with decreasing amounts of activity.
Heart failure is a common complication of hypertension. It is diagnosed when the heart cannot work in a way to meet the demands of the body.
It can be systolic (the heart is not able to contract appropriately) or diastolic (there are problems with relaxation of the heart, the left ventricle which holds the blood going out the body is stiff).
Some persons have combined systolic and diastolic heart failure.
There are different stages: The New York Heart Association Classification system is one of the most common ways of determining what stage a person is at:
Class 1: there are no limitations on physical activity
Class 2:slight limitation on physical activity
Class 3:marked limitation on physical activity
Class 4:symptoms occur at rest and unable to do normal activity
If you noticing worsening of your shortness of breath or it takes less time or activity to cause the shortness of breath to occur then you need to seek medical attention.
In terms of the palpitations, you may not need to seek emergency care for it but can advise your doctor of this symptom on your next visit.IF it worsens or it is associated with chest pain or shortness of breath then you need to see your doctor.
