Question : My 23-year-old son had a large mole which was biopsed and diagnosed as a dysplatic nevia. He may have it removed entirely. Is it likely that the diagnosis can change to melanoma after removal? Thank you very much from a worried mom

Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

A dysplastic nevi is precancerous. Therefore removing it entirely eliminates the risk of a Melanoma arising from it.
