What Are The Differences Between The Effects Of Keppra And Its Biosimilar?
I am on Lexapro 5 mg, Klonopin 2 mg, Keppra 1000mg and solian (100mg, amisulpride). I was on Exitelev before (it's levetiracetam but by Sandoz, a biosimilar). It seems that there are differences between the effect of Keppra and the biosimilar, so my psychiatrist decided to give me Keppra more than five weeks ago. I'll be soon (this week at the end of the week 6. I've been told by Dr. Bishnoi that i'll see the benefits of Keppra between 2 and 4 weeks and the full effect up to 6 weeks, I had more or least a 70 % of benefit at week 3, and at the beginning of this week i was in more or least 90 %, even with some "downs" Since four days ago -when i talked here to Dr. Mehta- i feel more benefit (maybe 95% or a little bit more today, not far from a full effect), so i would like to know if it's possible to have the full effect during the following days - no more than five or six maybe.(and then no need to a higher dosage for example with 250 mg more, since my psychiatrist was hesitating at the beginning of this week), I understand that the deadline (6 weeks) is not a mathematic one. I would like to remember tthat Keppra is helping me to fight some irritability probably caused by Solian at low dosage, because of dopaminergic activity.
Please if possible confirm me the information that Keppra has a cumulative effect, since this can also make me feel more secure.
Thanks beforehand XXXXXXX
Yes the drug has cumulative effects
Detailed Answer:
Hello thanks for asking from HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern dear. One thing I'd like to tell you that please try not to think about response of the drug. You have shown a lot of improvement with the drug and in coming few days more improvement will be seen. As you have mentioned that there is about 95% improvement so in coming few days the improvement will increase. Though in most cases drugs show full effects in about 4-6 weeks but in few individuals it may take time. You have shown good effects with Keppra so no need to worry.
Yes the drug has cumulative effects because the drug cause changes at receptor levels and the control of mood occurs by changes at molecular and receptor levels. So no need to worry. Just remember one thing that you have shown a lot of improvement with this drug than biosimilar.
Thanks, Please ask again if you have more doubts. Take care
Thanks a lot for your answer, it's clear that it's better with Keppra than with biosimilar.
I just would like to add this question: since Keppra has cumulative effects and it seems thay there are working now, i can expect strongest effects each day and less and less "downs", am I right?
Thanks beforehand, XXXXXXX

Yes progressively you will see increase in effects and less downs. But don't set a time limit, the drug will help to control your symptoms progressively with incremental effects.
Thanks, still have some doubts please don't hesitate to ask again.
