What Are The Effects Of Abnormal Reading Of Lipase Serum?
Question: I recieved a Amylase Serum reading of 46 U/L and a Lipase Serum reading of 60 U/L. The range for the Amylase Serum is 31 - 124 U/L and the range for the Lipase Serum is 0 - 59 U/L. I recieved a CT Scan with Contrast of my Abdomin and the results were Normal. Should I be concerned with Lipase Serum reading of 60 U/L which is outside of the Normal Range"?
Brief Answer:
You need not be concerned
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
You need not worry about the lipase reading which is just one unit outside the normal range.
We usually take it significant when it goes two to three times the upper limit of normal. Since it is not so in your case, there is no need to worry.
Moreover the CT scan of the abdomen is also normal.
So there is absolutely no need to worry.
I hope that answers your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr.R.K.

Dr. R. K.,
I have been having a problem with burping alot and was diagnosed in the ER as having "Alot of Gas".
I have also recently recieved "Chest Xrays" which were "Normal" and an "MRI Pelvic Exam" which was also "Normal".
But the Radiologist did note from the "MRI" that there was "Evidence of Diverticulosis" with "No Evidence of Diverticulitis".
Should I be concerned about Pancreatic Cancer / Pancreatitis / or any form of Cancer?

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for getting back to me with more questions.
There is no need to worry.
You do not have any evidence of pancreatitis/pancreatic cancer or any form of cancer.
Diverticulosis occurs due to poor bowel movements. Take high fiber diet, fiber supplements like metamucil and drink enough fluids.
I hope that answers your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
