What Are The Long Term Side Effects Of Azoran?
Question: i had suffered from crohn's disease from 2010 to 2014 and was on medication of Pentasa medicine. For the last one year I am good, but doctor suggested to continue using Azoran-125mg daily. I am not sure how long do I need to use and it's side effects in long term. I wanted stop this medicine but I am afraid crohn's disease may come back.
Brief Answer:
drugs to continued for maintaining remission of symptoms.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome here.
I understand your concerns.
Pentasa is used to reduce inflammation and swelling in colon.
Azoran is an immunosuppressive drug.
The treatment of crohns disease is usually symptomatic. The drug and dose which keeps the symptoms under control are to be continued indefinitely.
Pentasa is a safe drug.
But as azoran is an immunosuppressive agent, it can cause bone marrow suppression. This can make person prone to infection. So, I would recommend frequent complete blood count testing.
Stopping the drug can lead to relapse.
So i would suggest you to continue with drugs till your doctor recommends.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
