Brief Answer:
These are blood tests and x rays

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Hip replacement surgery is a major procedure and before that you need to get few blood tests to see if you are fit for this surgery. Following blood test are done.
1.Haemoglobin should be 10 or above.
2.WBC count normal that means there is no infection.
3.Blood sugar should be normal.
4.Electrolytes should be normal.
5. ECG showing normal heart functions.
6.Chest X-ray showing normal lung functions.
7.Blood grouping in case blood needed for transfusion.
8.X ray of both hip bone to see what type of prosthesis is needed? Sometimes CT scan can be done.

These tests are basic screening tests which are done in all cases. Sometimes there are other test depending on patient's pre operative conditions. There is no need to be panic. If these tests are normal then surgery can be planned accordingly, Wish you a fast recovery.
Thanks
