What Are The Negative Effects Of Antibiotics While Undergoing Infertility Treatment?

Question: My wife and I are trying to get pregnant. According to the test, she will be at the peak ovulating day soon, but I am taking Zithromax antibiotic for a sore throat. If we have intercourse while I'm on the antibiotic and she gets pregnant, is there an increased risk of birth defects or any negative side effects during or post pregnancy? Thank you!
Brief Answer:
No risks...
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
In this circumstance where you are using antibiotic and trying to conceive there are no risks of birth defects and fetal complications. You need not be worried.
I recommend she takes folic acid tablets in a dose of 5mg once a day. This is a vitamin pill that will allow proper neurological development. It is recommended prenatally in all women who are trying to conceive.
Hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need clarifications.
