Among the biological ones there are plenty of new drugs emerging in the market which claim to be better in efficacy and lesser side-effects.
In alcohol de-addiction, baclofen as an anticraving drug is emerging fast. In detoxification use of carbamazepine and memantin is growing in popularity.
In opioid dependence the newer technology of rapid detoxification or ultra rapid detoxification is emerging fast. They XXXXXXX the demand of early recovery from the withdrawal.
In nicotine dependence , availability of vaccines is a totally new outlook. Moreover nicotine sprays and patches are also available.
In social domains, the concept of "Cocaine homes" where in the therapist tries de-addicting a group of cocaine users using group therapy is being accepted in Africa. Management of substance abuse/dependence using cognitive behavioural therapy has helped dealing with many different psychosocial issues along with the dependance.
