Pustular tonsillitis had most probably occurred due to a bacterial infection although viral infections could also be the cause. Gargling with lukewarm water is the mainstay of treatment. The primary precaution is to avoid cold. Moreover, the immunity has to be boosted and this can be done by taking plenty of colourful fruits and vegetables.
