What Are The Repercussions Of Quitting Vyvanse Cold Turkey?

Question: Hi my 10 year old grandson was diagnosed with ADHD and was put on Vyvanse (I am not sure of the correct spelling) his mom spilled about 16 or so in the sink and because they are soft capsules the pills melted in the water left over in the sink. Taking this med each morning before school can it just be stopped like this until the insurance allows the new prescription to go through? As a grandmother I am worried. For me to purchase the pills with cash the pharmacy told me it would be $129.00 for 16 pills!!!! Is it dangerous for him to stop this that abrupt? Thank you in advance.
Brief Answer:
Strongly discourage against stopping abruptly!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.
It is not advised that he stops this drug abruptly because it can lead to terrible side effects. I will suggest that you buy this drug though very expensive to avoid such a scenario. Also, this will help prevent his ADHD for relapsing and the need to handle withdrawal symptoms following an abrupt stop.
In all. I strongly advise that you get the spilled pills to avoid discontinuation with its consequences.
I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.
