What Are The Risks Associated With Child Birth While Having Placenta Praevia?

Question: I m 18 weeks and 5days pregnant.my anamoly report says that I have posterior placenta reaching till the margin of os.i had spotting one week back and the doctor had recommended me to take bed rest.i had undergone a caeserian in my last delivery 9 years back with heavy blood flow . Will I be able to have safe delivery.if yes then at which week...what precaution do I need to take.....

Hi dear, I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
Low lying placenta till the margin of internal os is known as placenta previa, and it is the cause of painless spotting and bleeding in pregnancy.
You should restrict physical activities, avoid intercourse, avoid lifting weight and if there is no further bleeding, then elective caesarean should be done at 37-38 weeks of pregnancy

Placenta previa is defined as the margin of placenta lying within2 cm of internal os.
In your case, the placenta is reaching till the margin of internal os, so it is definitely a placenta previa.
However, sometimes the placenta migrates upwards with increasing gestation, and can be looked for in the follow-up ultrasounds.
