What Are The Risks Of Pregnancy After Missing Dose Of Birth Control Pills?
Question: Hi doctor, I'm a bit worried.
During the first week of the new blister of the birth control pill, I've had unprotected sex with my girlfriend (Friday). On Thursday she had taken the 1st pill of the blister regularly, before going to bed, but on Friday night (when we had the intercourse) she fell asleep before taking the 2nd pill and took it only the next day (Saturday) around 13.00, so 14 hours later.
Moreover she took the 3rd pill regularly on Saturday night, but had vomit 2-3 hours later.
From Sunday on, everything was normal.
Summing the situation is this:
(7days break)-1st pill-unprotected sex-2nd pill (taken 14hours later, still Friday)-3rd pill (had vomit 2-3 hours later).
I've read on the attached leaf that the "biggest danger" for a chance of pregnancy is during the first week and I'm worried. It states that with taking the pill more than 12hours later and vomiting within 4 hours, the intercourses (unprotected) during the previous 5 days are "at risk of pregnancy".
Her period should arrive tomorrow, but I'm very anxious right now

Brief Answer:
In all likelihood she won't be pregnant
Detailed Answer:
Hi,I am here to help you.
Dont worry in all likelihood she won't be pregnant. the chances of pregnancy are minimal to nil so not a matter of concern .just be stress free. she will get her periods in a day or two. if a missed pill is taken within next 24 hours the action is not lost as the hormonal levels are maintained .
Take care . hope I have answered your query. in case you have further queries you can get back to me.

And what about the vomit???
Brief Answer:
Vomit can be due to hormonal imbalance
Detailed Answer:
hi, don't worry vomit can be just unrelated or due to hormonal imbalance.
for vomit give you can her 1 tab rantac and tab emeset stat. Please note that these are prescription drugs. In case she doesn't get her periods in a day or two, do a urine pregnancy test on day 28 of her cycle. in all likelihood it will be negative . the failure rate of these pills is very very low which is less than 0.3 per 100 women years so not to take any stress. all the best take care
