Brief Answer:
they're different...

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

apixaban is a different drug than warfarin. You can't compare them in terms of side effects because many of them are similar. And you can't say which has more side effects than the other. After all both have a long list of known (documented) side effects but the outcome depends on the patient and is a matter of luck (or on medical knowledge not yet acquired by the medical community!). It's easier to use though because the dose is 'fixed' (nothing like warfarin which may require frequent modifications) and does not depend on food and other common factors. It may interact with other commonly used drugs (like clarithromycin, ketoconazole, etc) and cause more side effects. One negative point here is that while warfarin's effect is easily reversible (should bleeding occur), it's not so as easy with apixaban and similar drugs. Apixaban is also more expensive than warfarin (it's hugely costlier in my country and I suppose in every country).

Regarding its main side effects: bleeding is obviously one of the most common side effects. Other common side effects include anemia, nausea, even vomiting, constipation or diarrhea, dyspepsia, hypotension, edema (peripheral swelling), dizziness, headache, respiratory tract infections, various eye problems, urinary tract infections, joint pain, insomnia and various skin reactions like rash, pruritus, etc.

I hope you find my comments helpful!
