Clinidipine is a newer medicine that is usually used instead of an older medicine called amlodipine. The main benefit is reduced pedal edema.
Having said that, the edema may still occur in some patients on clinidipine.
The other side effects include
1.mild nausea
2. occasional abdominal pain
3. if given in too high a dose, blood pressure may fall beyond the normal.
this may cause symptoms like dizziness, sudden sweating etc.
