Question: hello. I use Dutamax and minoxidil 5% for hair problem. Is there any side effect related to erection problems

Dutamax (Dutasteride) is a 5-alpha 2 reductase inhibitor (inhibits the action of testosterone), so it is known to cause delayed erection, failure to maintain an erection and retrograde ejaculation, decreased sexual impulse among other things as side-effects.

These are uncomfortable but expected side-effects of the drug.

Minoxidil does not cause these symptoms.

Thank you doctor for confirmation. I want to know if there will be serious consequences if I continue those drugs and will the erection problem solve itself after sometime as I have been using dutamax from only a month or should I not be taking dutamax and will that solve my problem?

There are no long term or permanent effects of this drug, the side-effects will wear off over time once you stop the medicine.

Seriousness of the symptoms is subjective, so for me problems with erection may not be serious however that need not be the case for you as well.
