What Are The Side Effects Of Finasteride?
certain tests, consider taking medications and lifestyle changes
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to healthcaremagic
I can understand your concern.
It has been seen that in majority of the patients the side effects of finasteride disappear on cessation of treatment and in some patients even on continued treatment. Since you are still continuing with the side effects I would recommend you to undergo certain tests:
Fasting blood sugar level
lipid profile
serum testosterone: test performed between 8 AM and 11 AM
serum LH if testosterone levels are below normal
Thyroid stimulating hormone.
If your testosterone levels come abnormal you can consider going for testosterone preparations either oral or injectable under the guidance of an endocrinologist. You can also consider taking phosphodiesterse type 5 inhibitor like sildenafil or tadalofil 2 hours before sexual intercourse but these medicines should be started after complete evaluation and under the guidance of a doctor as they themselves need to be monitored.
Also go for life style modifications like regular exercise, healthy diet, smoking cessation and reduction in alcohol intake.
Also go for a psychological consultation as it helps in decreasing anxiety related to sexual dysfunction.
I hope to have answered your query
Wish you speedy recovery.
Good luck.
Regards
Dr Asmeet

Yes I have seen patients getting cured with hormonal therapy

I have treated so many patients with finasteride but seen the side effects in only 2 patients. Both I had referred to an endocrinologist who prescribed hormonal preparation after proper evaluation and they were treated successfully but it took around 5-6 months.
