What Are The Side Effects Of Glevo Taken For Epilepsy?
I visited a doctor today and he prescribed me the following:
Glevo 500 mg tablet and Becozyme C Forte tablet. He asked me to take it once a day for a week, in the morning after breakfast. I took one today morning. Its been nearly 4.5hrs. My throat has become more sore (reddish). But i more afraid regarding the side effects. It says that, Glevo contains Levofloxacin and that it should not be taken if a person had epilepsy or seizure.
In 2003, I had a seizure once (when i was undergoing treatment for Sacroiliitis) and i was on medication for epilepsy for a year. So, I am concerned if Glevo will cause me any harm. I am 36 year old Female.
Please clarify my above concern and prescribe me any alternatives.
Single episode of seizure is not 'Epilepsy'.12 years is long time.

Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being on healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.
If you would have presented to me as an outpatient,I would have made one thing very clear to you that -single episode of seizure doesn't fit into the definition of 'Epilepsy'.Single seizure can be physiological also,as due to lack of sleep sometimes.Reversible causes such as fever or electrolytes abnormalities can also result in single episode of seizure.
Epilepsy describes a condition in which a person has recurrent seizures due to a chronic, underlying process.
So,its ok if you have taken treatment for one year for seizures, but I can say with confidence that you were not epileptic and you are not epileptic.
Furthermore,12 years is a big gap and for this reason, levofloxacin is not a contraindication.Glevo should not cause any harm.
Hope I have answered your query. If you have some further questions,I shall be glad to answer else, please close the thread, rate it and write a review.

I am still wary of the side effects of Glevo. Would it be ok if I shift to Novamox 500mg, for the remaining 4 days (as I have already taken Glevo today)?
Novamox is also a broad spectrum antibiotic. It will do.No problems.

Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being in follow-up.
I can understand your point of view.I don't see any harm in shifting from Glevo to Novamox as it is just one day of Glevo.Novamox is also a broad spectrum antibiotic and it will do the needful.
