Last week my Dad's creatinine level was 0.93 and hemoglobin 11.4, but two days ago his left foot/ankle and right hand/wrist/fingers is swollen. We live far from the city, it takes 2hrs before we get to the hospital. I gave him OTC ibuprofen 200mg with temporary relief. Swelling still persist.

Hi! sorry for the delay; however, I must say that his creatinine level was normal and currently though the level is not known, you need to add more ibuprofen up to 400 mg thrice daily after food with ranitidine 150 mg before food but there are better alternatives like etoricoxib (selective COX-2 inhibitors) / steroids and colchicine; Also check his blood pressure and get a routine urine test when possible. To be on safer side, you motivate him for active movements of the joints involved!
Consult his regular physician when you meet in the future to prevent such acute episodes..

The swelling mildly subsided but his whole body/bones are aching.
I was thinking about putting Dad on Dexamethasone, was recommended by the Hematologist previously since he declined chemo therapy because his body couldn't handle the treatment. Please advice if it's a good idea knowing his 82 years old on Dexamethasone 40mg weekly. I'm worried about the side effects.
