What Are The Side Effects Of Krimson-35?

default
Posted on Tue, 10 Nov 2015
Question: Hi.. I'm 28 year old female weighing 60 kg, height 5 ft 4 inch. I'm getting married in next 17 days. I approached a doctor today to understand if i can delay my period by a few days as it is coinciding with my travel dates post marriage. She has suggested that i start consuming Krimson 35 from 1 st nov until 21st nov- It'll not only delay my period which is due on 12th otherwise but will also act as an oral contraceptive. I was diagnosed with PCOS 2 years ago and i controlled it by lifestyle changes. Ive lost 10 kgs and have made several dietary changes to keep my system in place. My cycle is very regular now and its a 36 day cycle. I want to know whether this is the right approach. I plan to take this medicine solely to postpone my period and for contraception. Please tell me what all side effects are there. Will it cause acne problem coz my skin is very prone to breakouts-right now they are under control. Also, will it lead to weight gain...in that case can you suggest me an alternate

Brief Answer:
Can cause mild acne.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
Krimson 35 is a hormonal oral contraceptive. It can be associated with side effects like mild weight gain, nausea, stomach upset, headaches and flaring up of pimples. All these are mild and well tolerated side effects but the intensity of side effects varies from person to person. To postpone the periods, taking hormonal pills is the only way and these pills can cause mild acne outbreak also. This can be determined only after you start taking the pill.
All these side effects are reversible after stopping the pill. Otherwise you can take progesterone only pills like norethisterone from 7th for 10 days. This way any acne outbreak at the time of marriage can eb prevented.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.

Thank you doctor. Is norethisterone similar to Meprate because 2 years back when I was diagnosed with PCOS my doctor.had given me that to induce my periods as I had.missed them. And it had worked well. I am travelling from 13 th Nov and will be back by 20th... So just wanted to confirm that in that case I should start taking the pill from 7th right because I don't want my skin to flare up during my wedding. Also, this is supposed to be had daily right so is there any particular time eg. I learned that all oral contraceptives are to b had at a fixed time daily. Please advice because I just want to delay my periods nothing else

Brief Answer:
It is same as Meprate.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Yes. It is same as Meprate. You can start taking it twice a day from 7th if you are sure that the periods will not start before 12th.
Continue taking it till 18th and you will have your periods on 20th or 21st after you stop taking it on 18th. It is best to take it at a fixed time like 9AM and 9PM.
Hope my answer is helpful.
