Question: my husband is in stage 4 of esophagus cancer he does not sleep at night morphine has had side effects hallucinations sleeping pills do not work lorazepam 0.5 mg does not work he had terrible side effects from quetiapine terrible confusion did not put him to sleep. he has dundowner at nite. what do you recommend p.s. he is in hospice.

Hello dear. I have gone through the details. So for hallucinations, restlessness, olanzapine can be given and titrated as per requirement. For pain , a patch formulation of fentanyl or bupremorphine will work better. Kewp him hydrated by iv fluids so that he doesnot feel restless.
