Detailed Answer:
Hello xxxxxxxxx, Welcome to HCM,
I've gone through your query and understand your concern for your mother,

First of all, please note that the 'L' component in Pantocid-L is Levosulpiride which should be cautiously used in elderly population, 6 month is quite long duration for continuing it, and there must be some reason (Liver and kidney function assay should be checked) why her doctor has changed it now to Nexium (Esomeprazole is a newer generation drug than Pantoprazole and much more efficacious)..

Since she was on Pantocid-L for such long duration, getting used to the change can take some time (may be few days to even few weeks), so not to worry about that..

Since she's uncomfortable, you can discuss with her doctor to know the exact reason behind changing it which will give you a clear idea about it..for the time being, in my opinion, she should continue the Nexium for another few days and observe how she stays..

Meanwhile, let her only take simple home cooked meals, avoid any spicy/deep fried foods, have yogurt daily and drink plenty of water to stay well hydrated and eat in small but frequent portions- all these will help..

Like any other medications, side effects are plenty, but when taken under medical supervision, they can be timely identified and dealt with appropriately, so don't worry about that..

Let me know if there's any further queries..
