What Are The Side Effects Of Addiction To Omnacortil?

She requires further evaluation.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
The most important fact in your mother's case is -
Why she is on omnacortil (contain prednisolone which is a steroid)?
Is there any underlying disease for which taking steroid is mandatory?
You should consult your doctor who had started her on steroid and discuss regarding need for steroid any other substitute treatment for disease for which steroid was started.
In case she needs to continue omnacortil then there should be regular monitoring of blood sugar level, blood pressure, serum electrolyte level, serum calcium and vitamin D level if required bone density measurement.
It is advisable to take calcium and vitamin D supplement along with steroids.
Steroids associated with uncontrolled blood sugar level in diabetics so consult diabetologist/endocrinologist for optimal treatment.
If steroid was started for short term only but your mother has continued it by her own without consulting the doctor or according to her doctor there is no further need for steroid in that case- You should consult endocrinologist.
She needs clinical and laboratory evaluation for suppression of hypothalamo-pitutary-adrenal axis.
It means taking steroids from out side inhibit endogenous synthesis of steroid hormones in body.
She need gradual decrease in dose of omnacortil (after every 2 weeks) with close monitoring for symptoms of adrenal insufficiency like lethargy, vomiting, giddiness, low blood pressure, electrolyte disturbances.
Hope I have answered your question.
I will be happy to answer your follow up question if any.
