What Are The Side Effects Of Anti-psychotic Medications?
Question: Can you tell me what are the side effects of IV Haldol or other anti-psychotic drugs? I know I experienced memory loss. Are there any others such as becoming agitated when coming to. I was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia when brought to the E. R.and kept sedated for 10 days using these drugs. Please tell me the short term side effects as well as any long term side effects (if any), I. E. tachycardia, ECG changes, etc
Thank you.
Thank you.

Hi and welcome to HCM.
There are certain side effects which usually occur in overdose, but for regular use there may be dizziness, drowsiness, difficulty urinating, sleep disturbances, headache, and anxiety.. Tachcyardia is not common, but bradicardia is more likely. Breathing difficulties usually occur in overdose. I understand your concerns. Haldol should never be given if there is no clear psychotic condition. You should consult your doctor about it. WIsh you good health. Regards
