What Are The Signs And Symptoms Of Heart Disease?
Question: I am 61 years old exercise regularly at a relatively high level. Recently, while fasting for blood work at the physican's office my heart rate read 60 and my blood pressure was 126/84. I am not sure why the blood pressure was upper normal and the heart rate was so low. I do know my blood pressure can vary from high 120s and 80s to low 100s and mid 60s. What do these numbers tell regarding my cardiovascular health?
Brief Answer:
Normal readings. You shouldn't worry
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
60 is not that low particularly for people that exercise regularly. Athletes may have much lower heart rates. NBA players may have 40-50 beats per minute!
You blood pressure reading is normal too. The 84mmHg seems a little close to the high normal range but it's still normal. Perhaps waiting to be punctured is the reason! Or it could be incidental.
I can't judge your health by evaluating your blood pressure and heart rate only but these numbers are definitely good! Your cholesterol levels are not very good, but they are not bad either.
I hope I've helped!
