Brief Answer:
Some thoughts on it

Detailed Answer:
delirium tremens occurs hours up to a week after stopping but mostly 1 to 3 days after stopping .
it is a serious some times fatal overstimulation of the nervous system.
shakes .sweats hallucinations seizures elevated pulse and blood pressure.

mostly it tends to happen (or not ) the same way in the same person you tend to get it or not get it.

symptoms go up then back down if the pulse is Normal
the shakes are slight and the person is lucid then rest in a somewhat dark room.

but if there's signs of overstimulation or any history of seizures then the person needs observation in a hospital,
