What Are The Symptoms Of Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
Question: I am 60 and had a colonoscopy (cs) 6 weeks ago. My cs showed a very healthy colon and my report said to come back in 10 years. Since my cs, I have had mild tenderness, compared to a feeling that I was punched on my left side, just under my ribcage. The tenderness is more noticeable when I am sleeping and it is often sore to lie on my side for too long. The tenderness is more one day and hardly noticeable the next day, yet it still persists. I have no other symptoms. No fever. No bleeding on the toilet. Completely normal, regular bowel and urine functions. I am playing my usual tennis, golf, running and playing my bagpipes, often. I would like to think that my colon and other organs just got a little bruised and will take many months to settle down.
Brief Answer:
Not commonly seen after CS
Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome to HCM
Certain degree of abdominal discomfort may be seen after colonoscopy but it shouldnt last for more than several weeks. However,it is possible that it persists but this is rarity. more likely it may be some other problem due to gastritis or pancreatitis or this is psychosomatic reaction on colonoscopy. If you dont have any other symptoms then you dont need to worry especially if all tests were fine try to eat easier food, drink more fluids. Such pain that you describe is commonly seen in Irriatble bowel syndrome. Wish you good health. Regards
