Brief Answer:
Need to see an Orthopedician.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for the query.

From your description and your local doctor's advise, I feel that you might be suffering with Osteoarthritis. It is commonly seen in elderly people due to regular wear and tear of the joints.

For this, I suggest you see an Orthopedician for evaluation and also would advise you to get X ray of the affected joints. Depending on the severity and damage of the bones seen on X ray, treatment would be medications or Surgery like joint replacements.

Avoid climbing stairs, running, sitting on the ground and folding the knees.

Hope this answers your query. If any further clarifications, will be happy to help you.

Regards.
