Brief Answer:
It can be linked to BRCA genes

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

studies have shown that the BRCA2 gene is associated with increased prostate cancer incidence in families with breast and/or ovarian cancer. The risk is about 5 times higher than in "normal" individuals.
The BRCA1 gene is linked to an increased incidence of prostate cancer in ages lower than 65 years. The risk is less than double the normal.
Sometimes BRCA genes presence may be linked to higher XXXXXXX score, which is a prognostic index for prostate cancer. Higher XXXXXXX score means worse prognosis.

Kind Regards!

hi Dr.

If my brother and dad had protate cancer, how does that affect my treatment of breast cancer?

i just had a mastectomy with reconstruction. Based on my profile, would i need adjuvant radiation for this? should i discuss this with my radiation oncologist this when i see her next week? i have a clear margin of 1.6mm and i would not want any reoccurrence.

thank you
doctor

Brief Answer:
Adjuvant radiation would be helpful

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

regarding your first question about the prostate history the answer is no. Breast cancer treatment depends on your findings.

Regarding your second question, since the surgical margin is only 1.6mm, I believe that the tumor location should be treated with adjuvant radiotherapy.

Sometimes a low margin is the result of local difficulties (like when the tumor is close to other structures). In cases like this the surgeon may remove other tissues as well. I don't know what happened in your case. That's why I believe that your oncologist should cooperate with your surgeon to suggest the most efficient approach to you.

Kind Regards!
