What Are The Withdrawal Symptoms Of Amisulpiride?
I have some troubles with Solian (amisulpride) 100mg, because at this dosage (or even 200 mg) it makes me have OCD symptoms, because of agonism in 5HT7 and 5HT2b receptors and some dopaminergic activity. So my psychiatrist decided to change to Zyprexa (5mg) instead of Solian. I was told that i'll see positive effects in 10 days, i would like to know how long Zyprexa takes to work (steady plasma concentrations and positive effects) and if it can quickly fight the symptoms created by Solian in those receptors, since i am not taking Solian anymore. I am also taking Lexapro 60 mg and Keppra 1500 to fight this symptom, and Klonopin, 2mg.
Thanks beforehand XXXXXXX
Olanzapine usually show its full effects in about 4 weeks
Detailed Answer:
Hello Welcome to HCM and thanks for your question
Solian is Amisulpiride and Zyprexa is Olanzapine. Both these drugs are antipsychotic drugs and have good efficacy. Usually Amisulpiride has been found to be more effective in negative symptoms and this effect is utilised in a number of conditions. Olanzapine is very useful in positive symptoms. You were taking 100 mg of Solian and now advised to take 5 mg of Olanzapine.
Olanzapine can help to control symptoms quickly. It improves sleep within first day of its therapy. Usually most of patients start showing its full effects with in 4 weeks. But you should start seeing its effects even after first week of its therapy. In most patients its steady state plasma concentration and full effects are seen in about 4 weeks because the drug cause changes at receptor levels. But as you were taking Amisulpiride so it should show its effects earlier than usual and you will not see much withdrawal symptoms of Amisulpiride so no reason to fear.
Thanks. I hope this helps you. Please don't hesitate to ask again for more doubts.
