What Are The Withdrawal Symptoms Of Klonopin?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Dec 2015
Question: When a person is having withdrawals from Klonopin, is this when the they become agitated and angry for no reason? My friend gets mean and nasty at the smallest things. Someone gave him Klonopin because he was suffering from Acid Reflux, hieatal hernia and he is now hooked and it's like he doesn' know my anymore. His Dr. never would have prescribed this because he is an alcoholic. He is 55 years old. He has been taking it about 4 months. What would be a safe way to get off of this. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Klonopin is addictive and needs to be weaned in a control envirnoment

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You have a friend who is now addicted to klonopin. His behavior has changed as a result of the addiction. He must wean gradually from the klonopin. I would recommend that he see a trained professional to wean because too abrupt weaning can cause seizures. This not something I would recommend you try to do by yourself. He may even need in patient care to prevent further problems and injury.

IN summary
1. klonopin needs to be gradually weaned
2. seek medical care do not attempt to wean yourself
3. Possible admission to a detox hospital.
