What Are The Withdrawal Symptoms Of Morphine Sulfate?
Question: I have been taking ER Morphine Sulfate 60mg tablets 3 times daily for years (like 12) ! I have been extremely ill and have found out my apt. was poisoning me with mold. My pain is no way under control and I have been worn down with this 18 month illness. Now he cuts my medication today...despite my begging him to reconsider or hospitalize me if he must continue in that direction RIGHT NOW! As I have been overwhelmed with being relocated and burning skin, upper respritory problems migraines etc.
So now, the prescription is for 2 60 mg ER /daily and 2-15mg IR/daily.
What can I expect for withdrawl symptoms, as I know I am physiologically dependant upo the morphine.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ma'am, Hi & Welcome.
Thanks for posting your concern on health care magic.
I can understand your concern.
When stopped abruptly opioid drugs like Morphine can cause rhinorrhoea (running nose), lacrimation, vomiting, hyperventilation, dysphoria, anxiety, hostility or delirium. This is due to physiologic dependence (body functions become dependent) to Morphine. Hence, the doses of Morphine are gradually tapered (reduced) over several weeks to prevent these symptoms.
Hope I could answer your query.
Wishing you best of your health.
