What Casues Dark Brown Urine While On Xeralto?

Question: Xeralto is causing my urine to be dark brown. If I discontinue Xeralto it clears up. It wasn't this way early on when I started taking Xeralto to atrial flutter. I have an appointment with my electrocardiologist next week, but I would like some insight into this now.

Brief Answer:
Side effects of rivaroxaban

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

Xarelto (rivaroxaban) is an anticoagulant used for reduction of Stroke Risk in people with atrial fibrillation/flutter. If your urine appears dark brown on taking Xarelto ,it indicates internal bleeding in the urinary tract. You need to undergo routine coagulation parameters e.g prothrombin time (PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) ,particularly if you have a co-existent liver disease and either dose adjustment or switch over to other conventional oral anti-coagulant is needed.
