Question: I have diarrhea in the mornings, sometimes shortly after a normal bowel movement I will have 2 or 3 very loose stools that come so quicky I have to run to the bathroom. I usually do not have further diarrhea during that day.....but it will start again the next day. I have some "twinges" in the left side, but no real pain. I am on many meds, including Diovan, Felodopine, Pravastatin, Allopurinal and 50,000 mg of Vit E each day. And for severe back pain I occasionally take Hydrocodone or Advil. I was taking Ambien for insomnia but I have stopped that and just take AdvilPM when necessary.I am not really overweight.......I weigh 147 lbs. and am 5ft 61/2 inches tall. I have had two total shoulder replacements and have had my lower back fused. I hae also had an appendectomy (60 yearrs ago, a mastectomy(27 years ago) and have had my gall bladder removed (about 8 0r 9 years ago). I am wondering if the combination of all my meds could be havig a negative effect on my GI tract?

Brief Answer:
DRugs unlikely to cause loose motion

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Welcome to Healthcare-Magic
Greetings of the day

Dear Ms,

None of the drugs you are taking will cause loose motion as side effect.

1. Diovan: Valsartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker antihypertensive. It does not affect GI motility
2. Felodepine: Its a Calcium channel blocker. It may sometimes cause constipation
3. Pravastati: It is a statin group of Lipid lowering agent. it does not cause loose motion
4. Allopurinaol: Will also not affect GI motility
5. Hydrocodone: Its a opiod analgesic. It causes constipation

The drugs which you are taking would likely result in constipation and not loose motion. Presence of loose motion in your case requires further assessment and evaluation by your physician.
I would suggest you to consult your Physician for further assessment.

Take Care
