What Casues Hallucinations?
Question: Son has had daily to every other day vomiting, with muscle spasms in arms and hands after eating. Now is seeing random people and hearing name called. Blood labs are normal, unable to take blood sugar test due to inability to tolerate glucose syrup. CT and EEG normal, but flashing light made hands twitch. Upper GI normal. Ultrasound revealed nothing. Switched from Omeprozole to Ratinadine. (Sister has developed intense daily migraines and seeing people, hearing things). Began last year with H Pylori infection. What is going on?
Brief Answer:
Seems psychological than organic
Detailed Answer:
Hi...this seems more like a psychological issues. This us clear cut case of hallucinations. But twitching after flashes of light is suggestive of seizures.
I don't think any of this is related to acid reflux or gastritis.
Other possibility is that he might be doing this seeing his elder sister too.
What are the ages of both kids? Any other family member has any psychological or psychiatric issues?
I suggest you consult your child psychologist as soon as possible.

Sister is 15, brother is 14. With sister, hallucinations occurred after migraines began 6 months ago. With brother hallucinations began after daily vomiting increased 3 months ago. Depression runs through both sides. So does diabetes, hyperglycemia, and paternal aunt had epilepsy. Could external factor be causing these symptoms, such as mold or toxins? I have switched family to stomach friendly diet, with limits on simple carbohydrates, more in line with diabetic diet. He cannot tolerate anything acidic, soda, sugar, fried foods, or processed foods at this point.
Brief Answer:
NO relation to mold or toxins
Detailed Answer:
Hi...this doesn't seem to be due to molds or toxins. This I feel is purely non-organic and psychological. I urge to see a child psychologist or psychiatrist as soon as possible. Both the kids need to be shown and definitely they will get better.
I such cases as one kid gets better the other follows...so please see a psychologist or psychiatrist as soon as possible.
