Brief Answer: Undergo Pap test and wart treatment Detailed Answer: Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic I am Dr. Kakkar. I have gone through your query and I have understood it. Genital warts are caused by a Virus, Human Papilloma Virus(HPV). Acyclovir not a treatment for genital warts. Genital warts can be accurately diagnosed, clinically and biopsy is rarely needed for confirmation. Treatment modalities include: -Radiofrequency cautery ablation -CO2 Laser removal/ablation -Topical Imiquimod 5%cream -Topical podophyllotoxin However there is more to HPV infection than just treating it by one of the modalities mentioned above. HPV can be of 2 types: -high risk type (cancer causing): type 16, type 18 OR -low risk type: type 6, 11(wart causing). Therefore, it is important to screen for possible precancerous changes by Pap testing. It is your best tool to detect pre-cancerous conditions that may lead to cervical cancer. If detected early, cervical cancer can be cured. I would advice that you also undergo Pap testing. Pap testing is done routinely to look for abnormal cells/cell changes caused by High risk HPV types e.g Type 16 and type 18. Low-risk HPVs, which do not cause cancer (but can cause skin warts on or around the genitals or anus) e.g HPV types 6 and 11 would not produce an abnormal Pap test result. If it is found that you have an abnormal Pap test result, the doctor may have the sample tested for high-risk HPV types. However, not all abnormalities are due to cancer. Many times, abnormal cell changes in the cervix (detected by pap test) go away without treatment, especially if there is no evidence of infection with high-risk HPV. Because abnormal cell changes can be caused by low hormone levels, applying an estrogen cream to the cervix for a few weeks can usually help to clarify their cause. Therefore, i advice that you do visit a doctor for management and screening. I hope this answers your query. regards
