Question : I have recently been feeling a sensation like a bubble is in my chest. I wonder if it is mucus or gas I'm feeling?

It may be due to avoid reflux, that is resulting in this symptom.

Presently I would suggest you to avoid spicy food, avoid smoking and alcohol.

I would have treated you with Acid reducing agent like capsule omez 20 mg taken once daily in morning before taking food, I would suggest you take this medicine for three days.
