Posted on Thu, 2 Apr 2015
Question: I had a bump on my wasteline, its where my belt usually goes and my girlfriend does tend to cut my hair down there. can u tell me what this is? I'm praying to God it's not herpes, it's the color of my skin when it's big, but when it shrinks it gets dry and crusty unless I put lotion on it. now it's just a dark spot.

Brief Answer:
This does not look like Herpes.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query and picture.
This bump is definitely not herpes.
You history says: it's the color of the skin when it is big and gets dry and crusty unless you put a lotion on it when shrunk. now it is just a dark spot.

Form the available information that you have given and the picture you have provided, this looks to be a sort of FDR (fixed drug reaction). This does no necessarily due to a drug-reaction, it can occur as a reaction to anything in the foods and beverages too.

Please provide further information:
- Since when have you got this?
- Is the lump palpable ?
- How was it started ?
- Which lotion are you using ?
- What are the factors which increase or reduce it ?

I would advise you to consult a Dermatologist at least once to confirm the diagnosis and get appropriate treatment.

I hope this answer helps you to get a proper diagnosis, and get a proper further treatment. Please feel free to ask for more or if you need further clarifications if you feel there is a gap of communication.
