What Causes A Crease Across The Earlobe?
Question: Hi, I hope this doesn't sound too silly. But can you tell me what a crease across each ear lobe means (or indicates) for an adult? I feel sure that I have heard of this before but can't, now, remember what it indicates. Someone recently suggested that it may possibly be an indication of heart disease and that it has been scientifically proven??? Can you help with this, please?
Thanks,
Dianne.
Thanks,
Dianne.
Brief Answer:
possible connection with heart attack
Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
There are some physicians that have felt that ear creases occur more commonly in people that have heart attacks or coronary artery disease. The evidence is not very good but some feel that there is that correlation.
Other feel that ear creases increase with age and it is the older age that is correlated with heart attacks more than the ear creases.
Things that definitely make you are more risk for heart attack are high cholesterol, hypertension, having a close relative with early heart attack, diabetes and smoking. I would focus more on those risk factors and not worry about ear creases.
