What Causes A Cyst In The Throat?
Question: I have a small (~0.5 cm) oval growth past my left tonsils down in the oropharynx region of my throat. It's very visible on the photo I will attach. The top of the growth is white, the bottom is normal color. It does not cause any pain or any symptoms. I noticed it about 3 weeks ago and during this time it did not change at all. What is causing this? Should I be concerned about this leis ion?
Brief Answer:
Small mucous retention cyst.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for your query.
1. The oval growth is a small mucous retention cyst, most likely to be a blocked minor salivary gland.
2. You can observe this and if this does not subside in a few weeks, you can plan a minor surgical excison or marsupialisation
3. This is not a cause for worry.
I hope that I have answered your queries. If you have any further questions, I will be available to answer them.
Regards.
