Question: Hello i'm showings signs of a chlamydia infection. But i tested negative. For my urinalysis it wasn't the first stream. I wait 1 and a half hours before doing the urine sample. Is it possible to get a false reading. Or if i have chlamydia will it show up regardless?

Brief Answer:
Considerations

Detailed Answer:
hello and thank you for sending the question.

It is possible to have a false-negative reading. If you're having symptoms including frequency of urination, discomfort with urination or discharge then it would be reasonable for you to repeat the test. If you continue to have symptoms I would recommend that you discussed this with your primary care physician.

It would also be reasonable to have a urinalysis performedto make sure that you don't have a typical urinary tract infection which can cause symptoms of urinary frequency, urgency and discomfort.

Again I would recommend that you consider repeating the test and discussing the findings with your primary care physician to make a good informed decision about the next logical step in management.

Thank you againfor sending your question.

Sincerely,
