What Could Cause A Prolonged Discharge And Cramping For A Person Who Underwent Rape?
hi i went through a rape several years ago and went to the doctor right away for testing. I never went back for my follow up but i did get an hiv test that was negative this summer. I think I may have chlamydia because my husband is getting care for it just in case it is we do not know his test results yet. I have had discharge and cramping for a very long time. My question is could they have detected it right away when I went to the doctor right after the incident?
History is suggestive of chlamydial infection. The testing of chlamydia can be done 24 hrs to 5 days following an exposure however, testing too early can cause inaccurate results because of the window period for chlamydia may range from 5 days to two weeks. The doctor could not have detected chlamydia right away following that unfortunate sexual encounter or offence.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
