What Causes A Feeling Of Open Vagina In A 15 Weeks Pregnant Woman?
Question: Hi, I'm. 16 weeks and 5 days pregnant. For the past week or so I've been feeling like my vagina is open or something. It's not painful but pretty uncomfortable and it makes clench constantly. I have had a leep procedure so am nervous this is a sign of an incompetent cervix?
Brief Answer:
Get it examined from your gynecologist.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The feeling of open vagina can be due to a slightly loose walls of the vagina. This is not related to cervical incompetence. If you have a something coming down like sensation then it is best to get yourself examined by your gynecologist. A direct examination and an ultrasound scan will help in ruling out any incompetence.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.

But I have the feeling like I have to clench my kegel muscles constantly -- unless I am lying down then it feels better. It is very uncomfortable. Maybe it also feels like pressure right at the vagina opening but not in the lower abdomen -- no feeling there.
I am 30 years old and this is my first pregnancy. I had the leep procedure about 6 years ago.
I have an appointment in 3 days but should I go to the ER?

Brief Answer:
Do attend an ER.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If you have to constantly clench the Kegel muscles then it is best to attend an ER now. Waiting for 3 days for a scheduled appointment can be detrimental. Avoid any stressful activity till then and do take a bed rest.
Hope my answer is helpful.
