Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I understand your concern and would explain that your symptoms could be related to anxiety. I don't think that your symptoms are cardiac related. Besides all your cardiac tests have excluded any possible cardiac disorders.

You should know that skipped heart beats or palpitations are usually associated to other symptoms like shortness of breath, dizziness, etc., but the feeling of lump in the throat can not be excluded.

Even if they were palpitations or skipped heart beats, you should know that they are quite normal in a normal heart (resulted from your performed tests).

So relax! You have nothing to worry about!

I would recommend performing thyroid hormone levels and blood electrolytes, to rule in/out possible thyroid dysfunction or electrolytes imbalances which can lead to a similar symptomatology.

If all the above tests result normal, I would recommend consulting with a specialist of anxiety, in order to help you manage better your symptoms.

Meanwhile, I would recommend performing a lot of physical activity (aerobics, walking, recreational sports), because it is fundamental for a healthy body and mind and avoid caffeine intake which can trigger anxiety.

Hope you will find this answer helpful!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri

Detailed Answer:
Hello again!

Thank you for the additional information!

I would exclude any possible cardiac causes related to this symptomatology. The fact that coughing makes you feel better indicates that your symptoms are not cardiac related.

Anxiety seems to be the main cause of your troubles.

So relax and do not worry about it! It doesn't seem to be anything serious.

Anyway, I would recommend checking your thyroid hormones to exclude any possible thyroid dysfunction which could trigger this symptomatology.

Hope to have been helpful!

Best wishes,

Dr. Iliri
