What Causes A Fluid Filled Lump On On Upper Arm?

Question: Hi
On thursday last week i noticed a lump on my right upper arm. It feels like fluid is sore to touch. Ive made a payment via paypal cant see your response. The page crashed on me what can i do to see response
Brief Answer:
looks like you got an abscess
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing to HCM.
A lump which is fluid filled and sore to touch couldbe an abscess.
You need to show it to a surgeon for a physical examination of that lump. And if he thinks that its an abscess then he might take you up for an incision and drainage under antibiotic cover. As an abscess if left undrained can cause sepsis.
Hope i have been helpful.

thanks for you info.
it isnt a petruding lump it is under the skin and feels smooth to touch. Now ive been carrying my handbag and my work bag on this shoulder the bags sometimes slip down my arm. i wondered if i had trapped the skin causing the problem. intially my upper arm was sore to lift ,this has gone..its slightly sore when pressing on the lump
Brief Answer:
then it can be either a bursa or a lipoma
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Then that swelling can either be a lipoma or a bursa.
Its not your skin folded inside.
You need to show it to a surgeon for a physical examination and a needle biopsy, if he feels necessary. Finally that can be excised depending upon the biopsy and examination findings.
