What Causes A Grey Green Pale Discoloration Around The Mouth?
Vitamin B deficiency
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for asking.
I am Dr. Prakash HM and I will be answering your query.
Based on your query and image sent, my opinion is as follows:
1. It appears to be mild hyperpigmentation possibly due to vitamin deficiency.
2. B-complex group of vitamins, particularly Vit B12 and B6 and sometimes with B1. I would usually advise my patients to take the complete B-complex group, as particular deficiency is difficult to identify. There is no complication of hypervitaminosis and it can be continued as long as necessary.
3. You can take Vit B-complex supplements, daily once. Symptom reduction would usually take upto 1-2 months. Also maintain good hydration (At least 5-6 liters of water per day) along with protein rich diet.
4. Hope there is no unusual weight gain. If there is, hypothyroidism will require evaluation. Otherwise, tiredness can be due to vit B-complex deficiency.
Do start the supplements along with nutritional improvement through diet.
Hope it helps.

My weight has been very stable for the past 10 years (135-140). I walk 2.5 a 3.0 miles a day and have been a vegetarian for 4 years. I will start the B complex vitamins now and supplemental B-12. Hopefully, that will fix my problem. Respectfully, Margaret Eaton
Vegetarians can have vit B12 deficiency particularly.
