What Causes A Low WBC Count?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Nov 2016
Question: Hi My niece is a healthy 28 year old ...not overweight, never smoked and minimal drinker who has a low blood cell count ... She saw a hematologist who ordered a bone marrow test. This seems like a very invasive test to determine what is wrong with my niece. Given the fact that she has NO symptoms and a low blood cell count can be a number of things ... is this the best option? And are there alternatives?

Brief Answer:
Please send me your complete blood count report.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.

She has low total wbc count. It can be due to viral infection, some other infection, vitamin B 12 deficiency or bone marrow abnormalities.

But bone marrow examination is invasive procedure and other approach should be taken into account.

Please send me your complete blood count report so that I can help you further.

Hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts then feel free to ask me.
