What Causes A Lump On The Foot Post Injury?

default
Posted on Wed, 14 Dec 2016
Question: I rolled my ankle a few hours ago and when I fell landed on my knee. I have a good sized lump on the outer side of my foot that showed up almost immediately. I'm concerned because my whole leg is numb and I can only point my foot. I am unable to bring my toes or foot toward myself, and when I walk it's not responsive to walking with correct movement. I am in very little pain, but experiencing weakness and less movement, like my leg is asleep from the hip down.

Brief Answer:
Could be a fracture

Detailed Answer:
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel , Orthopedic Surgeon
In view of the history you have presented, It appears that you have Fractured your foot bones, with possible injury to your hip bones.
I would suggest you start pain killers , crepe bandage support to foot and see if you can walk better. If you are able to walk better ,then hip injury can be partly excluded and get an X ray of the foot. If you don't feel better then go for x ray of the foot as well as hip bones. Best in this case would be to visit an orthopedic surgeon.
I hope to have answered your question. Pl feel free to ask any further question.

Pain medication isn't necessary. I don't know if it's because of the numbness that I can't feel much pain? My biggest concern is I can't move my foot toward me, just point it away from me. My hip/behind are sore from landing, but feels more muscular. When I walk my foot kind of flops or my toes catch because it can bend toward me with help, but not without help. I have rolled my ankle before but never had any trouble moving it or any numbness. It feels like my whole right leg is asleep and not totally under my control. Make sense?
