What Causes A Lump On The Upper Back?

default
Posted on Fri, 16 Dec 2016
Question: I am a 64 year old female. I have swelling and a small lump in my upper right back. I do a lot of heavy lifting at my job. Is this from muscle strain, or something I should be more concerned about?

Brief Answer:
Clinical examination required

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query but unfortunately need much more information to in order to conclude what it could be. It is possible that muscle strain has led to partial tear of some muscle fibres which could retract to form a swelling called ganglion. The exact location, the feel and consistency, the size, how long it has been there, and many other factors play an important role. A clinical examination is therefore necessary and I would insist you to visit a doctor for the same.

Let me know if I could help further.

Regards
